Today marks 80 years since the communist coup in my country, whish ushered my society into an era that lasted for nearly half a century and left deep traces on it that could be felt even today.

It also marks 80 years since the disappearance of my great-grandfather, kidnapped and murdered by the criminal communist regime for just having his own "bourgeois" business at the time. The only memory of him is his name being listed among the thousands of names on the Memorial of the Victims of Communism in Sofia, displayed below. May he rest in peace.

This reminds me of Marxism, which I'm now often hearing some people referring to with nostalgia as if it was something nice and beautiful.

People do have a rather short memory indeed.

But to my point )

Some comments I recently came across on an article about Martian colonization and terraforming made me thinking. One said,

Gotta give it to Dan Brown, he popularized an entire genre in literature, which as of today has been filled to the brink with his imitators.

And to think that Polish plumbers, Romanian hookers and Bulgarian pickpockets were supposed to be the main threat against the peace and prosperity of Her Majesty's minions! Wasn't that the main idea behind the Brexit? To regain sovereign control of the British borders and protect Mother Britannia against threats to the Fatherland coming from outside - mainly other EU citizens (read: East Europeans, a.k.a. "New Europeans")?

Well, GUESS WHAT. You Brexiters have been tossing the wrong scarecrow at the gullible public all the while. It's not the plumbers, hookers and pickpockets sucking on Mother Britannia's welfare teet and stealing your jobs that no British person would ever think of taking anyway, that are the threat. It's "lone wolves" like this guy who killed so many people yesterday. Home-grown terrorists who looked just like ordinary people until a few months ago, but then got radicalized under influence from the Internet. People who are second and third generation British citizens already.

So yeah. Do get your Brexit. Shut your gates to the dreaded Polish plumber, Romanian hooker and Bulgarian pickpocket. And keep telling yourselves that this would make you safe. Idiots.

Herkese merhaba! Greetings, all! I'mma occupy you with this Turkish issue once more. The Sultan keeps being on top of the news these days, so I figured I could tune in as well, what with living just next door to him, and being able to personally smell the scent coming out of his smelly ass.

Exactly a quarter of a century ago, in a small Dutch town called Maastricht, the European community was renamed to the European Union. The beginning of this union became a tale that everyone kept telling their kids as an example of economic and political success. But the downsides of that success that few people used to talk about until recently, which remained largely ignored for the last quarter of a century, are now threatening the future of the union more and more.

In the first years after Maastricht, these flaws might have been too difficult to spot, granted. But they remained there to linger, never to be addressed, and it took a lot of time for them to come to the surface and start threatening the unity of the union in a noticeable way. That time has come now.
