Interview with Guvidex, 5 times PCL champion

Q1. Hello, Guvidex! Thank you for agreeing to this interview. First off, right to the point. How do you like the first real-life PCL trophy that you've received after winning 4 PCL titles in a row?

A1. like it very much, it's my first real trophy received in this game :)

Q2. Before we delve deeper into PCL lore, could you tell us a bit more about yourself? What is your name, where do you live, what do you do, what is your family like? Do you have some hobbies?

A2. My name is Ciprian, I live in Bucharest, I work in IT and I like fishing.

Q3. You've participated in the Pseudo Champions League for quite a while now. How do you find the tournament, the organisation and the community? Any ideas about making this tournament even more exciting?

A3. I think it's the best tournament in Hattrick. The organization is exceptional, the idea to play with limited Hatstats is brilliant because all teams have a chance to win a match.

Q4. You've done an amazing job establishing a real dynasty in recent PCL history. But can you recall which was the most difficult of these titles to achieve? And what was your sweetest moment in the PCL?

A4. I don't remember the most difficult moment but the sweetest moment was in the season 47 final when I played for the first time the final between my two teams and Sstefan made a video with that final :)

Q5. Both your teams have reached a combined 5 finals in the last 7 seasons, and won a total of 5 gold medals, 2 silvers, and basically played an all-Guvidex final for the last two seasons. How do you explain this dominance, what's your main formula for success?

A5. I tried to win all the matches, I use my best players in every match. I play with a lot of possession and attack, it's hard to defeat a team like this. And I was very lucky in some matches, of course.

Q6. Let's not forget that you've been pursuing a successful campaign in the Romanian league, too. What's your main focus in the league, do you plan to attack the higher divisions or are you more focused on developing young players and experimenting tactically?

A6. I had very little money to invest in the team so I don't have high expectations. I would like to promote this season to division 2.

Q7. Which tactics and types of lineup are your favourite for your most important matches? What specific skills are required in your players to bring your strategy to perfection and does it take a lot of time and effort to develop a squad so finely tuned to your tactical preferences?

A7. I preffer to play AO, 2-5-3, I try to maximize the midfield and the attacks, I try to have a lot of chances and score the majority of them. All of my players have 4 skills, playmaking, scoring, passing, winger. For WB I have two quick players, same skills like others but instead of scoring they have defending. Except for WB and the goalkeeper, they have all been trained by me since 2017, so a lot of time involved.

Q8. You've been around for quite a while, so it's obvious you're very dedicated to Hattrick, and moreover you have a good long-term look on the game. Do you like the way this game has evolved, and which innovations are the best, and which are the worst? Is there something still missing from the game, which could make it a lot better?

A8. I think the developers have made small changes that were necessary but in general the game has remained like it was at the beginning. That's a good thing, I like the game as it is. When you make a 3-4 year reconstruction plan, the last thing you want is a drastic change.

Q9. I saw you've got a youth academy. Some very impressive youngsters in there. Do you spend much time with your Youth academy, and what is your best sell from it? Do you rely a lot on your youth players for your main squad?

A9. I haven't had luck there. I've sold 2-3 players for good money but this is all, I have nothing right now in my academy.

Q10. And lastly, but not least important, are you a football fan outside HT? Do you have a favourite football club in your home country and internationally? Do you go to matches, or do you watch them on TV? And how do you view Romania's chances for the World Cup 2022? :)

A10. I'm not a fan of footbal outside Hattrick. I don't watch matches and I don't know much about any team.
